Hands-on Art History Experiences:

In this experience we make our own ink using an ancient technique and create drawings based on works found in Leonardo's notebooks. Usually a 1.5 to 2 hour experience. 

During this course we learn about "fresco" - a painting technique used from ancient times to the Sistine Chapel Ceiling. We will create a tile sized mini-version of this kind of work while learning a little about Renaissance art.

In this experience we will learn about medieval iconography and the techniques used to create altarpieces and Icons. Both religious and non-religious subjects for the personal project will be available.

Learn about the life of Monet and his unique approach to painting. We will learn about his interest in color and light and create a work based on his many studies of the Parliament Building at sunset. 

Cezanne was a country boy, and a quiet artist who talked about building his art with geometric forms. Learn about Cezanne and create a work using his techniques in this class.

Seurat wanted to add rules to impressionism and was interested the the science of seeing. Paint like Seurat by learning about pointillism and creating your own work using this method.
